Poetic Version of Doctrine & Covenants Section 76

A few weeks ago, I mentioned the "poetic" version of Section 76 of the Doctrine and Covenants during our discussion of Lesson 20. This was published by Joseph in the Times and Seasons newspaper in February of 1843 [vol. 4, pp. 81-85]. I think it is worth reading today:

Also, I would like to recommend the following article puiblished in Meridian Magazine by D. Lynn Johnson (Patriarch of the Wilmette, Illinois stake, and a sealer and full time temple worker in the Chicago temple). The title of his article is: "Remarkable Ancient Poetic Parallelisms in D&C 76": http://www.meridianmagazine.com/articles/050216Remarkable.html

  1. Way cool Rob! I never knew about the poetic version. Interesting to read side by side.

  2. Glad to give you something "new" from the Prophet Joseph. His perspectives are always a window to godliness.

  4. I heard a man say once that Joseph referred to Section 76 as "Of what was, and now is, and yet is to be" and I have been search for the reference ever since. Thank you for sharing this valuable information! -- Jonathan Felt, Spanish Fork, UT
